The World Football Federation (FIFA) has imposed a fine of 30,000 Swiss francs on the Russian Football Union (RUF). The sanction is because of racist offenses from fans to French football nationalists during the friendly match between Russia and France, played on 27 March in St. Petersburg. FIFA said the reason for the fine was "racist chants" of fans at the stadium.

According to witnesses in St. Petersburg, monuments from Russian fans were heard from the rostrum of Paul Polga and other dark players in France. "The Fellows" won the match 3: 1 with two goals by Kilian Mabape and one by Paul Pogba. At the stadium in St. Petersburg will host seven World Cup matches in 2018 in June and July, including the A group match between Russia and Egypt and one of the semi-finals.
